KASP Kern Association of School Psychologists Activities
Welcome back and I hope your school year is off to a good start. We have planned some KASP activities for the coming months and are looking forward to an active year for KASP. We are also working on a workshop or two, based on the interests expressed on our questionnaire last Spring. I'll keep you posted as our plans become more defined. Another possibility is a Response to Intervention Panel Presentation or Discussion, where representatives from school districts implementing RTI (in one form or another) would talk about the process of getting RTI started and what it looks like in day-to-day implementation. I will need to know if anyone is willing to present. It would be great if we could get at least 3 or 4 districts to share what they are doing. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon,
NEW -- NOVEMBER 24TH, 2008 ADOS TRAINING "Hello KASP, We have a tentative date for the ADOS training Jan 26-27th. Before we can book these dates, we need two students meeting the criteria established below for the live assessment of the ADOS modules. Please let us know if you can help! We have a hold harmless agreement/waiver provided by WPS that must be signed by 11/26/08 (this Wednesday) and submitted to WPS. If we do not have this agreement signed and submitted by this Wednesday, we will not be able to move ahead with the training. Please forward to anyone you believe may be able to assist. Two (2) children previously diagnosed with autism must be scheduled for your clinical training course. Day One Child should be preschool age, non-verbal or minimal language skills, with an expressive language level of less than 4 years. Day Two Child should be school age (6 or older) with an expressive Language of at least a 4 year old. You must be familiar with these children to ensure their comfort in front of a large audience. (The Administration Information Sheet must be provided to me at least sixty (60) days prior to the start of the workshop) Please contact Leila (lpage@pbvusd.net) ASAP if you can help us with getting students signed up. Thank you,
------- FROM OCTOBER 15TH, 2008 "I wanted to touch
base with everyone who had expressed an interest in attending the ADOS
workshop. I hope everyone is still eager to attend. At this
time I have been unable to secure support from the SELPA for additional
funding to decrease costs for the district. I have conversely not
received a "no" either. I do need to pay the costs to WPS 90 days
in advance of the training. With that being said, the KASP
The board is entering into this training cautiously as if all 25 spots are not filled, it could quickly drain the entire KASP account. At the end of the course you would have a WPS certificate of completion. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Leila
